Mitch & Laura Napralla

October 5, 2019

Huser Farm

Princeton, WI

Mitch and Laura’s wedding day was extra special to me and I hope the images you are about to see show how much effort I put into photographing their wedding!  I have known Laura for quite a few years now and we always joked I would be her wedding photographer, even though she didn’t even know Mitch yet!  I was over excited when Laura sent me the request for me to be her wedding photographer :)

Here we go, enough about me and how I feel and more about how this perfectly rainy wedding day went for Laura and Mitch…

The day started off at Mane Attraction in Oshkosh for hair and makeup.  All the bridesmaids, Laura’s mother and the flower girls were present and ready to start the day!  Maid of Honor was Kalli.  Bridesmaids included Amber and Laura’s three sisters Carolyn, Emily, and Jenny.  The flower girls were given extra special treatment by getting their nails painted.

The entire morning was a pretty gloomy day and was threatening rain.  I was able to get to Huser Farm before it started raining.  But as soon as I took out Laura’s wedding dress, it started down pouring!  It was a good thing for it to start raining before I took her dress outside for pictures.  Even though it started raining, Huser Farm is so pretty, it wasn’t too hard to find other locations to take wedding dress pictures!

Laura’s bouquet and cake showed up.  Created by Webster’s.  Everything was coming together.

It was a great time with the bride and the bridesmaids in the beautiful bridal suite.  As you can see, there was tons of laughing and even a few tears, but they were happy tears!  Especially when Laura and her dad did a first look - it was so sweet!  After the first look they had to stand and pose like the bosses they are!

Mitch and his groomsmen went to get ready in the lower section of the barn, near the ceremony site.  Mitch’s Best Man was Joe.  The other groomsmen included Tom, Shane, Ryan, and Andy.  It was shocking that everyone knew how to tie a tie, but of course there was still assistance to be done to make sure they were all in tip top shape.

By the way - check out this amazing wedding ceremony site!  It is like something out of a dream!

Now let’s get to the ceremony…

Somehow there was a break in the rain after the ceremony for us to go outside and take pictures!  It may have been a bit on the cooler side, but Mitch and Laura were great and willing to work through the weather and also dealing with me to get these precious pictures to add to their wedding collection!  It was easy to see Mitch and Laura’s attraction, love, and caring towards one another.

Let the reception begin with the introductions!

Speeches were provided by first the Best Man, Joe followed by the Maid of Honor, Kelli   Both were amazing speeches that made you laugh and yet were very personal and touching.  It was hard not to smile during the speeches.  Mitch also gave a wonderful speech of how he met Laura and remarked on how he just knew it was going to be her as his wife.  It was the cutest thing!!!

Mitch and Laura at their first dance as husband and wife…

Father of the bride dance was next which looked like they were having quite the good time.

As was Mitch and his sister in the next dance.

I was able to get Mitch and Laura to come outside with me for some last minute wedding pictures in between the rain.  I am pretty sure they thought I was crazy when I asked them to come outside with me for MORE pictures, but I think it was totally worth it and hope they now know what I saw!

Laura and Mitch - you guys are awesome!  I love that you have found each other.  Keep each other laughing through the years, it truly does help you get through most things!  I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me as your wedding photographer - it means so much to me, more than you will ever know!

Mike and Hillary Maninga

August 10, 2019

Ahmeek, MI

Let's get started with a more detailed look at Mike and Hillary's wedding day...

Hillary's wedding day began bright and early at Citrus Salon for hair and makeup.  Hair by Alexadrea Larson, traveling down from her salon.  Bridal make up by the wonderful Gisele Ryan.  Bridesmaids, Sarah and Jamie, had their hair done early in the morning and were already out of the salon to put their makeup on themselves by the time I had arrived.  Mother of the bride, Janessa and Cheridan were at the salon with the bride.

After the salon, we went up to the Ahmeek Firehall for the Bride and Bridesmaids to finish getting ready.  I was able to spend some time with Hillary's beautiful dress and cute shoes to get some much needed shots!  There just happened to be an apple tree right next to the firehall that worked out perfectly, special thanks to Jaime and Sarah for finding me locations for dress pictures!

Reminds me of Snow White with the deep colors and the apples.

Hillary even had hockey pucks detailed with their wedding date and names!  Pay attention to future pictures in the collection, you will find hockey themed throughout the day!

As a wedding photographer you tend to help with multiple tasks and I am always happy to assist.  The bride and her bridesmaids all had lace up dresses, and if you have ever laced up a dress you know it can take a while.  This was one of the tasks I was happy to assist with!  Mother of the bride of course had to assist her daughter with the lacing of her wedding dress.

Jaime and Sarah assisting with Hillary to put on her cute little flats.  Theses girls always seemed to be smiling and having a good time!  I can see why Hillary chose them to be her bridesmaids.

Hillary helping her father with his boutonnière, it was hockey themed of course!

Next step in the day was to go to the ceremony site.  Hillary and Mike married at a family property in Ahmeek.  The little river, trees and homemade arch made a simple yet beautiful backdrop to their ceremony.

Hillary rode in style from the firehall to her ceremony site in the Ahmeek fire truck.  Her father drove her to the ceremony before walking her down the aisle.

Let the ceremony begin...

Right at the end of the ceremony there was an announcement over the radios, congratulating Hillary and Mike on their wedding and wishing them the best!  It was such a heart-felt unexpected moment.

It was always a good time with Hillary and Mike's family and friends. Right in the middle of the receiving line, we started hearing a fire alarm going off.  And here is this gentleman at the end of the fire truck just looking like he is up to no good! Ha.

Hillary and her littlest best friend.  She was sure to send me pictures of this little guy beforehand to make sure I knew he would be a part of the wedding!  How cute is he?!

Just like Hillary to arrive in such a style, it is only fitting to leave in no less of a style!  Hillary and Mike rode the back of the fire truck all the way to the firehall!

After everyone gathered at the firehall, we all loaded on the party bus and went to Esrey Park.  We almost didn't go up to Esrey Park, but I am so glad for Hillary and Mike that we all went!  Theses are the kind of wedding pictures I live for!

Honor Roll Park in Ahmeek was also a scheduled photo stop on the party bus tour in the Keweenaw.  Honor Roll Park is where Hillary's parents were married and it was a definite stop site!  We also had to get all those hockey themed pictures done!!!

Off to the reception...

I must say it was a first for me to photograph the couple signing their wedding license in an actual firehall garage, but it was fitting for the couple.

Hillary and Mike's sister surprised Mike with a Groom/Sister dance.  The song was Mike's mothers favorite song.

Thank you Mike and Hillary for having me as your wedding photographer and instantly making me feel welcome!  It was a great day to spend with you!  I enjoyed all of the happiness and laughter you both naturally make happen.  I also loved that Hillary wanted to capture all the moments she could with everyone to the point where she was notifying her guests that they were not allowed to leave the reception until a photograph was taken with them.  The blog is only a small piece of the photos and emotions captured throughout the day.  If you want more, you will need to ask Hillary for the rest of the collection once it is complete!

Dear Mike and Hillary,

I truly wish you all the best in your marriage!!!

Jeff & Katrina

August 18, 2018

This beautiful August day started off on the shores of Lake Superior...

The Bridesmaids and Groomsmen were in neighboring cabins.  The guys were the first to get ready, as you could imagine groomsmen are usually quicker than the bridesmaids.

It was nice to meet Jeff and his family and spend some time talking with them!  Jeff is a nice and casual guy.

One of the Groomsmen wanted to show the getting ready order, so of course I obliged with one exception - the groom must be the one fully ready on the end!

And of course we had to get their pup of honor ready!!!  Franklin is definitely is the most stylish dog I have ever met at a wedding.  It's hard not to say "Aww" when you see him!

I made my way back to Katrina finishing getting ready.  This girl did her own makeup, and it looked amazing!  I was also super jealous of her makeup collection.

Her bridesmaids were so thoughtful they bought her a personal embroidered robe.

Katrina and her Bridesmaids all wore cowboy boots.  These are the brides wedding boots!

When on the shores of Lake Superior, you might as well take full advantage and get ready outside!

The next stop the top of the Porcupine Mountains!  What a gorgeous Upper Peninsula backdrop for Jeff and Katrina's ceremony.  We all were trucked up the mountain because the chair lift was not cooperating.

The flower girls were one of the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen daughters.  Of course they had their little cowboy boots too!

Jeff standing, waiting patiently for his soon to be wife...

Katrina drove herself up the mountain in their Jeep!  And here she comes...

With her charming little smile

It's always a good sign to start off the marriage with laughing at the ceremony.

Katrina's father could not be with us for her ceremony.  In her bouquet she had him right by her side all day with his class ring attached.

I am sure he was looking down and smiling all throughout the day.

The ceremony was a success!  Jeff and Katrina are happily married!  Now to make the trek back down the mountain.

Katrina is my kind of girl - she is the one driving!!!

Back to the shores of Lake Superior we go!  Lake Superior is one of my favorite places to take pictures and we could not waste this marvelous sunny day!

The wedding party was a perfect mix of friends and family!

Katrina, you picked quite the smart and witty bridal crew!

We had to show off the cute cowboy boots with the the most important ones in the middle.

We won't forget about the guys and their great personalities!  Thank you for allowing me to direct you guys around!

The next scene only took us a few tries to get it down. Ha.  Some of the guys didn't realize I wanted them to jump, but we finally got it!

Everyone was ready to relax and eat some delicious food at the reception!  So next stop, the lodge.

As you can imagine it was decorated elegantly with just the right color palate.  You could spend quite a bit of time taking in all of the details Katrina put together for her reception area.

After the eating was complete, speeches were up next.  They were all quite entertaining and yet so sentimental.  Listening to their stories made it feel like I knew Katrina and Jeff for years!

The first dance as husband and wife...

Franklin wanted to be a part of the dancing too!

Cutting of the cake.  Katrina even cut the remainder of the cake for everyone and Jeff served it.  What better bride and grooms could you ask for?!

Franklin was stoically waiting for his treat by their side.

Hope you enjoyed your sneak peak of your extraordinary day!

I want to thank you both Katrina and Jeff for allowing me to photograph your special day!  Also for making me feel so included in your group!  You all are a lot of fun and are great people!  I wish you the best in your marriage!

Tim & Stephanie Wadaga

November 11, 2017

Tim and Stephanie are such a great match for each other.  I had the pleasure of meeting the couple on their engagement session at Canyon Falls this summer.  After spending time with them on their engagement session, I could not wait for their wedding day!

Here is the start of Tim and Stephanie's best day ever!

Stephanie and her girls got ready at this cute little cabin located on the outskirts of Chassell.  Everyone was busy getting ready with hair and makeup!

I adored and appreciated the amount of details Stephanie put into her wedding, just like all the bridesmaids receiving their own personal hangers for their dresses!

Another wonderful idea from Stephanie was to have each bridesmaid pose with antlers!  Each bridesmaid had their own way of showing off the antlers.  Of course, a lot of laughing occurred in-between the smiling faces!!!  It was so much fun!

I am in love with the matching plaid and winter background!  How cute are these before wedding photos?!

I announced to everyone to laugh and then at Stephanie, which I am sure she felt awkward about by being singled out - but she is the center of attention for the day and it is one for sure way for all her bridesmaids to look at her!

After hair, makeup, getting ready photos were complete we made our way to the church.  With all of the snow we received for a couple of days, the girls just finished getting ready at the church.

Everyone at the church was so happy to see Tim and Stephanie become husband and wife!

Right outside the church, on the stairs we were able to get this photo!  It only took a few times discussing it - right groomsmen?! Ha.  Good thing the bridesmaids were so enthusiastic!

Who doesn't love a good dip on the church stairs?!

If you look closely you can see that antlers are incorporated into Stephanie's beautiful bouquet!

Aww, look at the happy brand new wedded couple!

Tim and his groomsmen were having a difficult time looking at me and my camera at this point.   The large charter bus decided now would be the best time to  attempt backing up and turning around!  Groom and groomsmen - I know many guys around this area would be able to relate to you if put in this situation!

The ladies on the other hand, have no problem looking at my camera when needed!  It is so special to have the bride out front and her bridesmaids, it shows off their support standing behind her!

The full bridal party!!!

Tim smiles so easily, it was nice to get a photo showing seriousness.  He looks so dapper!

So happy to finally spend time with Stephanie for some bridal poses!  After I saw this photo in my camera I was so excited I had to stop and show her how BEAUTIFUL she is!

Next mission of the day was the KBC for some relaxation before the reception.  It was a special place to Tim and Stephanie since this is where they met!

Afterwards, we went to find some brick for some more photos!

It is always nice to give the couple a little of time just for each other!  After all it is THEIR day we are celebrating!

Stephanie and her girls drinking up after a long day of smiling, laughing and executing the perfect day!

Last, but definitely not least, we headed to the reception where I was not surprised to find more elegant winter details!

Of course the cakes, cupcakes, and there were even cheesecakes made by one of the bridesmaids, Elaine!

Again, look at the simple yet thought-out details!

The first dance as husband and wife.

Tim and Stephanie - I want to thank you for allowing me to spend the best day with you!  It truly was an enjoyable experience!  I was happy to meet all of the great people in your lives.  I wish you both the best in life!

Eric and Michelle Little

Wedding

September 16, 2017

Eric and Michelle became husband and wife in Crystal Falls, MI.  It was a beautiful location.  Honestly, I have never stopped and taken in the sights in Crystal Falls - it was always just a town I needed to go through to get to my destination.  I was so excited when Michelle and Eric chose me as their wedding photographer!  I have not seen either of them since high school (which I would like to say was only a couple of years ago, but that would be a lie, ha).

The wedding journey started at Crystal Cove Cottages with the bride and her family.  Michelle's mother assisted Michelle with the final touches of her getting ready.

Oh how I love button up backs of wedding dresses!

Michelle's mother was assisting her with a classic pearl necklace and was so focused that I had to mention for them both to smile.

It is hard to smile while you are focusing on a task, but mom did great!

Michelle had her twin sister, Diane and her long time friend, Megen standing in her bridal party.  Diane and Megen were both a ton of fun and were so helpful throughout the wedding!  It is always a relief when the bridal party is so awesome!

Look at how lovely the dresses and flowers went together.  Perfect fall coloring for the September wedding!

If you look closely on Michelle's flowers, you will see pictures of her grandparents that were not able to physically be here for the wedding.  Michelle did not forget to include them.  Her grandparents were with her in spirit the entire day!

Details, details, details...

Michelle's veil was so pretty with the lace border.

Michelle is so radiant!  I had the wonderful assistance of her bridesmaids to get her to laugh and smile, which sometimes were just simple sound effects.

I traveled a small distance down the highway to Michelle's family cabin to find the guys, of course with jackets off - mingling with the guests.  I do not blame the guys for trying to stay as cool as possible - it was an epic 80 degree fall day in the Upper Peninsula.

Eric had his two brothers standing for him as his groomsmen, Tanny and Adam.

The ceremony - cute and elegant all in one.  Also with perfect lighting for the photographer, what more could I ask for?

I loved the arbor and the sunflowers, they added the ideal touch to the ceremony.

Eric attempting to place the wedding band on Michelle's finger.  Glad I was able to capture this real life moment for them, these are the moments you remember!

Of course there was laughing during the ceremony, I wouldn't expect anything less...

And some more laughing...

Eric and Michelle finalizing their vows, awaiting to be announced husband and wife!

First kiss as husband and wife!

Michelle's grandparents shared with me before the wedding that they were hoping the couple would stand up in front of everyone for a good portion of time to get "nice" photos of them after they said "I do."  Her grandparents stated that no one does this anymore.  I am not positive if Eric and Michelle knew about this, but they did stand in front of everyone after the ceremony for the guests to take pictures.

Diane helping Michelle bustle up her dress.  The dress went up and down with the bustle many times throughout the day.  All previous brides with trains on their wedding dresses can understand!

After their family and friends congratulated Eric and Michelle we went to Paint River Pier.  It was like something from a dream with the bridge and the leaves changing colors.

The entire bridal party following through on my request for laughing.  What's the fun in standing still smiling at the camera on picture after picture?!

I get so excited seeing images like this in my camera!  I try not to spoil it and show the couple all of them right away, I like it to be a surprise when their collection is complete!

The rings...

It was a rare spotting to see Eric on his wedding day not smiling, but I was able to get one picture!  He looks so sharp!

How do you not fall in love with the passion seen between these two?!  The best part is you don't even have to see their faces to feel it.

Thank you Eric and Michelle for letting me be a big part on your wedding day!  I loved being there and spending time with both of you and getting to meet your family and friends.  You two make an admirable couple!  I hope it will not be another decade to be able to spend time with the both of you...

https://fawnmariephotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/9/utah-snow-canyon-session Utah Snow Canyon Session

Hello Everyone! I am happy to share with you a session from our trip to Utah!  I'm going to be honest, Utah was not exactly where I thought I would be traveling to this year, but I am so happy we did.  Thanks to Brooke for asking if I wanted to go take pictures of the red rocks. After agreeing to go, there was this early statement from my husband, "I'm not sure what you have gotten me into."  He probably should have ended that statement with "again" (I tend to get him and myself into situations).

We started our travel to the beautiful southern Utah at 10:30pm on Thursday August 24th, we finally arrived at our rented house in Washington, Utah about 20 hours later.  It would have only taken us 8 hours longer if we drove.  The first night Brooke and I were planning on finding the perfect location for our husband and wife elegant session when we stumbled upon Snow Canyon State Park.

Snow Canyon State Park is named after 2 pioneers, not because it snows a lot.  It actually only snows about 4 inches per year, so any of you Yoopers looking for somewhere warm with barely any snow - Utah is it!  The park has a 4 mile drive through with turn offs to hiking/biking trails.  Snow Canyon was our winning location due to the ease of capturing beautiful backgrounds without it being too busy.

On Saturday we got up, waited for Brooke to finish getting ready and set off for Snow Canyon. We were able to start our session not too far from the beginning of the park.  I had to stop for pictures with the green against the red rocks, it makes for such a picturesque scene.

It is hard to show the size of the red rocks in a picture, you really need to experience it in person.  We had to be a good distance away from the rocks to be able to capture the top ridges.

Aww, aren't Jim and Brooke so cute?! Now Billy and I are not as cute, but we make do with what qualities we have. Ha.

By the way, isn't my dress so pretty?!  I have been looking for a dress like this for over a year, and finally found it while shopping down in Appleton, WI in a small boutique store.

Brooke was an amazing assistant.  I was able to set the settings on my camera and give her some direction on what I envisioned in my head (which is hard as a photographer to explain everything you think about) and she succeeded.

This is the road that goes through the park looking north.  As you can see on the left of the picture there is one of those small turn offs I mentioned earlier.  How could you not stop and take in the view?

It is hard to smile and laugh in front of the camera, I know, but Brooke does it so well. It is so satisfying to me to have pictures that show true emotion.  Just looking at the picture makes me giddy!

Here is the same road with the lovely newlyweds. This road is more like 8 miles long because you can go north 4 miles and see one view and turn around and come back down with an entirely different view.

The famous dip pose.  On this session, I had my husband, Billy, do this pose with me for the first time.  I have directed couples to pose in this way many times, and it was quite a different experience being in front of the camera and doing it myself!

My poor Billy with his blue eyes being forced to look into the opposite direction and trying to keep his eyes open.  I, on the other hand have minimal issues with the bright sun due to my brown eyes.

Now this is the view looking south down the road.  So it doesn't appear too different on my pictures here, but again in person is the best way to view it!  Believe me, it is a different view.

Thank you to Brooke, Jim, and Billy for putting up with me and my need to retake pictures until it was how I imagined them! It was without a doubt a session that I will treasure for a long time.

I was so excited when Kassie asked me to capture her and Evan on their one year anniversary! Here is the short version of our session last Sunday.

Kassie picked one of the perfect places for her session, Little America. We began our session on the road to Little America.  Their two girls were eager to begin the session.

All was well in the beginning, but then of course there were more important things to do than walk pretty on a leash.

We let the dogs have a break and headed part way down the actual Little America road.  We found the perfect trail.

Kassie is quite the short girl in comparison to Evan, it's so cute!

We tried the dogs again out on the beach. This shows the behind the scenes of trying to capture images with your dogs! Ha.

There is something that I love about the walking away images, even better when it is on the beach!

Thank you Kassie and Evan for allowing me to capture your one year anniversary session! It was so much fun! This is just a small portion of the beautiful images Kassie and Evan received, if you want to see more you will have to ask Kassie!!

https://fawnmariephotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/4/five-reasons-to-do-a-bridal-session Five Reasons to do a Bridal Session

A bridal session is a day before the wedding, dedicated to only photographing the bride.  I had a bridal session before my wedding day.  The photographs from my session are some of my favorites out of my wedding collection.  I cannot stress enough the importance of a bridal session!  There are so many benefits to scheduling a bridal session, here are my top five reasons...

  1. Less STRESS on the day of your wedding.  Your wedding day is stressful enough, there are so many things to think about.  It is so comforting to know that you already spent time with your photographer to get the desired photographs of yourself, because let’s be honest – as brides we all want gorgeous photos of ourselves.  Outdoor photos are so beautiful, but who knows what the weather is going to do on your wedding day.A bridal session can be rescheduled due to weather, your wedding – not so much. When you do your bridal session you can also take your time, which leads me to my second reason.
  2. Efficiency.  On your wedding day you already know you have beautiful photos of yourself, you can now spend time taking those desired photos of you & your hubby and your bridal party.  It never feels as though there is enough time on your wedding day to take all of the photos you want plus take a break for eating, moving to different locations, family portraits, socializing with guests, and to relax & enjoy your special day.
  3. A bridal session will increase your comfort level with your photographer.  It will also increase your comfort of being in front of the camera.  I sympathize with you on being in front of the camera, at first it is super awkward.  Let’s get the awkward feelings out of the way BEFORE your wedding day.  I would also like to get to know what your best pose is and hear your ideas for photos.
  4. Let’s get creative!  Why not take photos in different locations than you are on your wedding day?  We all have that one special place or two where we have thought of taking our wedding photos, but it’s probably way out of the way to include on your wedding day timeline, so let’s go on your bridal session!  As your photographer, I can also spend more time on details such as capturing images of your wedding rings, dress, hair, and jewelry on a bridal session.
  5. A bridal session is one of the best ways to have a trial run!  Getting your trial hair/makeup done before the bridal session will let you know how awesome you are going to look!  It also gives you a chance to change your look if there is something you think of that could work better.

My last reason is the fact that most of us spend a good portion of money and time on our wedding dresses, why not wear it for more than one day!  Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.  If you have any questions or would like to schedule a bridal session please feel free to contact me through my website!

Teagan's Newborn Session - February 16, 2017

Alicia & Travis welcomed me into their beautiful home for Teagan's newborn session.  I was so excited to actually take the pictures.  I have been planning ideas in my head ever since Alicia said she wanted them done!

First we started with Dad and Teagan, it was hard to pick out my favorites from this section (really any section was hard)!  Teagan was so calm and cooperative while being held in Dad's arms.

Of course being in Mom's arms was no different for Teagan.  She was so easily comforted.  As I am sure you can tell in the background, Teagan's nursery was the best option for the family photos.

I love this family photo!  Took some turning as a family unit to get the lighting right, but once we did it was perfect!

Look at that CUTE little smile cuddled in Mom's arms! I was so happy to capture it with my camera for Alicia & Travis.

We moved onto Teagan's individual newborn session.  I couldn't have been happier - she is such an adorable model!

Alicia had asked me to crochet a deer newborn hat.  I had 4 different sized hats for Teagan to trial before I completed it with antlers, ears, and the flower.  I made sure we got our deer shot in.  Teagan even stayed awake for us to capture some pictures with those big beautiful eyes!

She truly enjoyed this mini homemade log bed and wasn't too happy when we took her off.

We ended the session in the peapod - I am so excited we did this last section because she fit in there perfectly!

Thank you Alicia, Travis & Teagan for the wonderful newborn session!  I look forward to watching Teagan grow and change throughout the years!

https://fawnmariephotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/1/winter-snowshoe-adventure Winter Snowshoe Adventure

Snowshoeing is quite enjoyable, if you haven't tried it I recommend you give it a go.  The amount of effort with each step can vary from day to day.  It is all dependent upon the amount and type of snow on the ground.  Generally the freshest of snowfall makes it harder to get yourself through.  I have been telling myself for weeks that I would go for a snowshoe.  It took until the beautiful sunny days last week to gain up the energy to put my snowshoes on and walk out into our field.  I am so happy I did and was able to capture a couple of images.  The images may not seem special or really that beautiful, but they mean something to me.  Doesn't that seem like the case for most photographs?  The images we love either "speaks" to you or reminds you of a good part in your life.
